How Smoking Affects The Body


Smoking causes many premature deaths from diseases that are largely incurable, but preventable by stopping smoking. There are three main killing diseases which smoking causes or brings on earlier:

♥Heart disease. Smoking is responsible for 30 percent of all heart attacks and cardiovascular deaths.

♥Cancer. It is responsible for at least 30 percent of all cancer deaths and 87 percent of lung cancer deaths each year.

♥Lung problems. Smoking is responsible for 82 percent of deaths due to emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Smoking also exacerbates diseases and conditions that are not always fatal, but cause suffering or are sources of personal concern. Smoking delays healing of peptic ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, many of which would heal spontaneously in non-smokers. Its effects on blood vessels cause chronic pains in the legs (claudication) which can progress to gangrene and amputations of the toes or feet. An effect on elastic tissue causes wrinkling of the skin of the face to develop earlier in chronic smokers. On average they look 5 years older than non-smokers of the same age do.

Smoking also brings on an earlier menopause in women, advancing it by an average of 5 years. It reduces women's fertility and delays conception after they stop using oral contraceptives. It impairs erections in middle-aged and older men and may affect the quality of their sperm. It seems to "sedate" sperm and to impair their motility. This is reversed after stopping smoking. Smoking accelerates the rate of osteoporosis, a disease which causes bones to weaken and fracture more easily.

Women who smoke during pregnancy damage their unborn child, causing effects that last throughout the child's life. The risks of miscarriage, premature birth, and death of the baby in its first year of life are all significantly increased.


Oh yess, the harmful effects of smoking, and yet, I smoke. Would it kill me to just quit? No, not really. Then you're now probably asking, "So, why don't you just quit if it won't kill you?" The answer is very simple, IT'S NOT EASY. Once you've started, it's seriously hard to let go. That's why the thing's called addiction. Yes, yes, yes, if I really wanna quit, it's all up to me. I've heard that one so many times before. But as I've said, the thing's not easy. I'm not really a chain smoker or anything, but it's in my system already. I wanna quit, yes, but not now. I'm not yet ready. Yes, not ready.

Blah blah blah. Why am I talking about smoking? My Mom entered my room a while ago and gave me a flyer about how to quit smoking. Yess, my Mom knows that i smoke. Weird, huh? Oh well, we all have different parents.

GO DADDY! Honestly, I thought my Dad already quit this crap. But I guess bad habits die hard . So, how did I found out? As usual, through the ever-so-proficient technology . I don't have any load, so I borrowed my Mom's phone. But she said she was using it, so she gave me my Dad's phone instead. I was just about to delete my message from the Sent Items folder when I saw this unknown number. Pakielamera ako eh, and I got a bit curious, so I opened the two message that my father sent to this--whoever this person is. First message : "Darling wala lang namimiss...
There are TINY RED ANTS all  over my keyboard. And I'm having a seriously hard time typing when they keep popping out like that. Seriously, I don't know where this stupid little creatures are coming from. If they're not on my bed, they're on my computer. DAMN IT! This is completely shocking me cause I despise sweets. Therefore, I don't eat them. And so, I don't understand what's keeping them in my room. Oh come on! I keep killing and they keep showing up like 10 times more. What are they, like having sex inside my keyboard that's why they keep multiplying?! Okay, I can't take this anymore. Too many ants!! This is crap. RAWWRRRRR!
